Squad Lead - Full Stack Engineering - Tieto Tech Consulting (m/f/d)

Tieto Tech Consulting’s team in Bulgaria consists of 500+ professionals specializing in the development of tailored digital solutions in diverse industries.

We're looking for a Squad Lead to join a healthcare project for one of our clients, building digital products and solutions for patients and healthcare providers participating in clinical trials. The Product Engineering organization consists of several self-organized, cross-functional teams delivering releases on a quarterly program-increment cadence using Agile methodology.

As a Squad Lead, you'll guide a cross-functional team of about 10 developers, testers, designers, and business analysts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. You'll work on frontend web and mobile applications, backend-for-frontend layers, and content management systems, built with React/ React Native and TypeScript on the frontend and Node.js/ NestJS or Java on the backend. This is a genuinely hands-on role. Beyond guiding the squad, you're expected to get into the codebase yourself - reviewing, pairing, and occasionally building - so your technical direction comes from direct experience, not just oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, testers, and business analysts to deliver exceptional results
• Stay hands-on in the codebase: reviewing code, pairing with engineers, and contributing directly on complex or ambiguous problems
• Support recruitment of new team members and foster a fun, inclusive, high-performing team culture
• Drive Agile processes, including preparing and leading PI planning and scrum activities
• Facilitate collaboration between multiple teams to ensure seamless delivery of features and solutions
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the software aligns with product roadmaps and regulatory requirements

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a leader, with 2+ years of team lead experience
• Strong, hands-on background in software development (5+ years), with a deep, current understanding of building frontend solutions (React/ React Native, TypeScript) and backend services (Node.js/ NestJS or Java) - either backend background is welcome, we're not tied to one language
• Great communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and functions
• Driven by creating a high-performing team where knowledge sharing and building great solutions is what makes you smile at the end of the day
• Long experience working with Agile methods, particularly SAFe and Scrum
• Fluency in English is required

A Significant Advantage Would Be

• Experience or interest in coding and system architecture, with a hands-on approach to supporting technical decisions
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks for web and mobile applications (e.g., React/ React Native)
• Experience with, or an interest in, taking on line management responsibilities
• Familiarity with regulatory knowledge, such as GxP, SaMD validation, or similar
• Scrum Master or Agile Coach certification
