Senior Roaming Operations Engineer - Tieto Tech Consulting (m/f/d)

Tieto Tech Consulting is looking for a Senior Roaming Operations Engineer who wants to join a project within a Telecom Team for our respectful client BICS.

When joining Tieto Tech Consulting as a Senior Roaming Operations Engineer 

• You will provide second-line support for Instant Roaming, Open-Connectivity Roaming (Roaming Hub), SMS Translator, Steering of Roaming, Managed PGW, and other related services
• Monitor network and service availability and quality, performing proactive and reactive maintenance activities
• Manage incidents and carry out planned maintenance work
• Participate in the implementation of new services and network rollout projects in collaboration with engineering teams
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Presales, and other second-line customer support teams, to gather information, logs, and traces, validate routing and data transfer, and ensure high service availability and quality
• Work closely with vendors, monitor their performance, and ensure proper service delivery
• Support customers worldwide with roaming-related issues and cooperate with mobile operators and Travel SIM companies
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of network architecture and signaling protocols and interfaces
• Assist with the training of new and existing team members
• Support workload planning to ensure business continuity during holiday periods
• Participate in an on-call rotation (one week per month)

Who we are looking for

• You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, IT, ICT, or a related field
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in telecommunications, primarily in signaling or roaming (mobile telecommunications or international carrier telecom)
• Strong understanding of network architecture, SS7/SIGTRAN, LTE, GSM call flows, Mobile Packet Core call flows, and roaming scenarios
• Familiarity with telecommunications technologies and ITU/ETSI standards
• A high degree of initiative, autonomy, and commitment
• Ability to work effectively in an international and multicultural environment
• A proactive, self-driven approach, with the ability to identify and resolve issues independently
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, collaborating closely with peers and colleagues
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, stay well organized, and think outside the box
• Results-oriented and customer-focused, with a commitment to delivering high-quality services
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust priorities based on ad hoc requests
• Upper-intermediate (B2) English proficiency or higher
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required

Will be an advantage

• Experience with the Cellusys Steering of Roaming platform
• Experience with 5G networks and/or VoLTE/IMS
• Good operational knowledge of Linux
• Knowledge of Docker
• Knowledge of IT tools such as Splunk and Python
