From Information Security to Global Leadership
With over 15 years in information security and compliance, Ben has built deep expertise across industries from finance to healthcare. After joining MentorMate (now part of Tieto) as a Security Architect, he moved into thought leadership, applying his skills to emerging areas like AI, quantum computing, and security innovation. “I was inspired by the culture of innovation and camaraderie that makes this team special,” Ben says. Today, he leads teams at Tieto Tech Consulting, shaping new approaches to secure software delivery and meeting the market’s evolving needs, while also delivering direct client consulting and leading and organizing teams beyond Tieto.
Pushing Boundaries in AI and Quantum
Ben’s fascination with the fast-changing landscape of technology keeps him on his toes. “Security, AI, Quantum – every day brings new challenges,” he explains. Among his proudest achievements is leading a global project to develop the ESSR and AI PM Framework, uniting top minds from across continents to create something truly unique in the world of tech governance. Quantum technology currently tops his list of interests. “It presents fascinating new challenges for security and will redefine how we work,” he adds.
Leadership, Learning, and Human Touch
While technology evolves at lightning speed, Ben believes the human factor remains at the heart of Tieto’s success: “AI will multiply technical skills, but intuition, creativity, and human spark are irreplaceable. We — the people — are the product of this organization.” His focus now lies in leadership and client relationship building, ensuring Tieto’s consultative and human-centric approach remains strong. He stays current through deep daily research, following trusted sources like McKinsey and Gartner.
Life Lessons from the Trail
Outside work, Ben is an avid mountain biker, fisherman, and outdoorsman. His hobbies mirror his professional philosophy — taking calculated risks, staying balanced, and always pushing limits.“ Mountain biking has taught me a lot about risk management. Every time I ride, I aim to do something new,” he says. And like Einstein, he believes movement is key: “Life is like riding a bicycle — to keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
Community, Family, and Global Mindset
Working in an international environment is one of the greatest rewards of Ben’s role. “I love learning about and visiting other cultures. Forming friendships across the globe has been an amazing benefit,” he notes. Team spirit also extends to his approach to mentoring: “Our group constantly mentors each other — it’s a two-way street of learning and support.” Family life remains a top priority. As a parent, Ben appreciates Tieto’s understanding and flexibility: “My colleagues always understand if I need to take care of a sick child or move a meeting. It’s incredible.”
