Doris Raimann: Curiosity, Confidence and Shaping AI-Driven Transformation

Curiosity can take a career further than any rigid plan. For Doris Raimann, Senior Solutions Consultant at Tieto Tech Consulting, it has been the driving force behind a journey that began in software development and now focuses on AI-driven application modernization and transformation

Her path shows how staying open to new challenges — even when you’re unsure of the outcome — can lead to meaningful growth and impact.

From Early Curiosity to Technology Leadership

Doris’ interest in technology began during her time at a business-focused high school (Handelsakademie), where she discovered the subject that fascinated her most: Business Informatics. “The combination of business thinking and technology immediately caught my attention,” she recalls. Motivated to deepen that interest, she continued her education at a technical college, confirming that technology was the field she wanted to pursue. Doris began her career as a software developer, gaining experience across different companies, projects and technologies. Over time, new opportunities allowed her role to expand beyond hands-on development into technical delivery management and technical architecture, where she combined technical expertise with coordination, leadership and strategic thinking. Along the way, she also took on people management responsibilities and occasionally stepped in as deputy head of department, experiences that broadened her perspective and strengthened her leadership skills.

Working at the Intersection of AI and Innovation

Today, Doris is part of her role at Tieto Tech Consulting, where she focuses on AI in application modernization and AI-driven transformation. One of the most rewarding aspects of her role is the pace of change. “The best thing about my current role is that I’m constantly learning,” she says. “AI is evolving incredibly fast, which means there is always something new to explore and understand.”

Growth Through Challenges

One of Doris’ biggest learnings is that growth often begins in moments of uncertainty. “There are times when you take on something challenging and later wonder if you may have overestimated yourself,” she explains. Instead of stepping back during those moments, she has learned to stay committed and work through the challenge. “Even if everything doesn’t go perfectly, you always learn something valuable and come out stronger and more confident.”

Confidence and Opportunity in Tech

Reflecting on gender balance in the industry, Doris believes that confidence and supportive environments both play an important role. “Women should trust themselves more and be willing to take opportunities,” she says, noting that hesitation when applying for technical or strategic roles is often unnecessary. At the same time, she highlights how encouragement from colleagues and shared opportunities can make a real difference in a still largely male-dominated field. She also believes organizations can support progress by ensuring more women take on technical and strategic leadership roles, not only traditional people-management positions.

For women and girls considering a career in technology, Doris’ advice is simple: “Just give it a try and don’t doubt yourself too much.” Technology is a broad field with many different paths, and success does not require knowing everything from the start. Curiosity, openness, and willingness to learn are often the most important qualities.

Beyond Technology

Outside of work, Doris enjoys spending time outdoors with her two Labrador retrievers from working lines. Much of her free time is spent training with them in forests and open fields — an activity that even led her to complete hunting training, even though she is almost entirely vegetarian.
