Job Description
Engineering Manager- Education Tieto Indtech (m/f/d)
We are looking for an Engineering Manager who enjoys working with people and helping engineering teams do their best work.
This role is based in Skellefteå or Luleå.
About the role
As an Engineering Manager in the Education unit at Tieto, you will support and develop a group of engineers working on software products used by schools across the Nordics.
Your role is to create the conditions for teams to succeed, by supporting individuals, strengthening collaboration, and helping teams continuously improve how they build and deliver software.
Most of your team members work in agile product development teams, while some may have more specialized roles. You will work closely with product management and other engineering teams to ensure that we build the right things and deliver them in a sustainable way.
This role combines people leadership with an engineering mindset. You do not need to write code in the role, but a technical background helps when coaching engineers, discussing technical challenges, and understanding the realities of software development.
If you are currently a senior developer or technical lead who enjoys mentoring others and improving how teams work, this role could be a natural next step.
What will you do
Support and coach engineers in their professional growth
Help teams collaborate effectively and deliver value continuously
Work closely with product management, sales, and other units within Tieto
Contribute to improving our ways of working across teams
Build a culture where engineers help each other succeed
Our way of working
Our teams work with modern product development practices. Concepts that influence how we work include:
Lean, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Systems Thinking, and continuous improvement.
We value curiosity, learning, and openness. Good ideas can come from anyone, and we encourage discussions that challenge assumptions and help us move forward.
Our goal is simple: build reliable software that simplifies everyday life for schools.
What we think will help you succeed
Experience leading, mentoring, or supporting other engineers
Strong communication and coaching skills
Experience working in software or product development teams
Understanding of Agile and Lean ways of working
Curiosity and willingness to learn and adapt
Fluency in Swedish and English
